“Benson Camp,” originally the “French Homestead Farm,” built in 1910, occupies a coveted spot on Madison, Maine’s Lake Wesserunsett. 

 

In 2017, Phoenician Charlie Benson, who frequently visited the Lake home of his brothers-in-law Jamie Gluck and John Wentworth, took a picture of his wife Laura on the front lawn of the camp, which had been shuttered for nearly a decade, and said he dreamed to own it some day.

 

In 2022, the Bensons’ hopes were realized when they were presented the opportunity to buy the camp and make it their summer retirement home.

 

That same year, the Bensons hired Jamie and John to bring the Benson Camp up to contemporary standards while respectfully keeping its style, look and heritage. The renovation encompassed new electrical and plumbing systems to support two new bathrooms and a laundry room, a new roof, new exterior and interior paint and new appliances. The designers kept all original flooring, windows, walls and kitchen cabinetry.
